On a more positive note: Although XDarwin is slow, I find it still quite usable. I do a lot of latex typesetting myself, and I do most of my work on this lime-green iBook 466MHz here, which is quite a bit slower than yours (I have 320MB RAM, though. The screen is only 800x600 which may compensate for some of the slowness). For typing, I usually use XEmacs with XDarwin in rootless mode. I don't use any xterm, because Terminal.app is faster in scrolling, and in rootless mode you can run any X11 command from a Terminal window. I use a little Makefile that runs latex, dvips, ps2pdf and Acrobat Reader as needed automatically by just typing "make". I find this a very pleasant and productive working environment, more flexible and actually, for my taste, easier to use than those mouse-driven integrated solutions like TeXshop or iTeXmac. -- Martin ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: OSDN - Tired of that same old cell phone?
