Probably, the major reason for the recompilation is that gcc
3.2 uses a different binary interface for C++ programs (and
I'd guess for Objective C programs too). It seems that the
binary interface is now stable.
I hope that Apple has used gcc 3.2 and not gcc 3.1.x, or else
this will happen again in the future.
This kind of breakage requiring recompiles would happen also
whenever major upgrades for shared libraries are released,
without compatibility (read fallback) versions.
In other words: it may be the case of recompilation in the
future, but it may be not.
