I had a big crash, two weeks ago (it was all my fault however) and it
take me a whole week to recover my computer but it looks like I
recovered everything until...

I tried to launch my KDE and everything went all-right. Few others
programs were working smoothly but not fink :-(.

First symptom : when I do fink self-update, I receive a list (really
long) looking like :

[...]
No package name in /sw/fink/dists/unstable/crypto/finkinfo/pine-
ssl-4.40-3.info
No package name in
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/crypto/finkinfo/stunnel-3.20-1.info
No package name in
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/crypto/finkinfo/yafc-0.7.4-2.info
Updating package index... done.
[...]

However, fink list works nicely...

Second symptom : when I try any update, update-all install or reinstall
I obtain that :

<u>update</u>
mkdir -p /sw/src/libgtop-1.0.13-8
/sw/bin/tar -xvzf /sw/src/libgtop-1.0.13.tar.gz
Failed: directory /sw/src/libgtop-1.0.13-8/libgtop-1.0.13 doesn't exist,
check the package description

<u>update-all</u>
dpkg -i /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-

<u>install</u>
The following package will be installed or updated:
  latex2rtf
curl -f -L -O
http://belnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/latex2rtf/latex2rtf-1.9.13.tar.

(I found the /sw/src/latex2rtf-1.9.13-1/ but empty)

<u>reinstall</u>
The following package will be reinstalled:
  xmms
dpkg -i /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-
powerpc/sound/xmms_1.2.7-3_darwin-powerpc.deb
dpkg: error processing
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-
powerpc/sound/xmms_1.2.7-3_darwin-powerpc.deb (--install):
failed to open package info file `/sw/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/control' for
reading: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:

powerpc/sound/xmms_1.2.7-3_darwin-powerpc.deb
### execution of dpkg failed, exit code 1
Failed: can't install package xmms-1.2.7-3

I re-installed dev-tools, retried the preceeding commands, tried apt-get
but none worked. What should be missing or removed and how to repair ?

Thanks,
Eric DUFOUR
