Hi,

I don't know if I'm asking the right people ... Simply looking for someone
who has a clue with following problem:

step-by-step. It all went smoothly.
- When I started LaunchMatlab Xdarwin and OroborOSX start up and I have the
Matlab Icon appearing in the dock. However Matlab doesn't start and the icon
gradually disappears from the dock. No problems with the
window-manager-applications.
A couple of questions:

Does matlab start when you start OroborOSX first and then run matlab from a terminal as

MATLABDIR/bin/matlab

If this doesn't work, does it work as

MATLABDIR/bin/matlab -nojvm

Is your Matlab updated for 10.2?

I tried installation several times with always the same result.

A very nave question: I installed Xdarwin & OroborOSX via Fink, so could
I am pretty sure you didn't install OroborOSX via fink :-) Anyway, if you had a working installation of OroborOSX on 10.2 there was no need to reinstall Xfree86 and OroborOSX from the Matlab CD. If you did, it is possible that you are in an inconsistent state with the xfree stuff, i.e. you may have some parts left over from the previous installation and most of it overwritten by the (probably older) versions from Matlab.

there be some relationship with my Matlab problem (since Matlab installs
both programs again)?
If your OroborOSX is still working, including xterms and other X11 programs, then the problem might be on the matlab side. Starting it from a terminal might give some useful error message.

Probably there's some stupid user-related error, however I'm having a harder
time getting a program costing a fortune to run than all my Fink-Unix-stuff
(means the fink-people are doing a wonderful job; thanks by the way).
A good lesson on open vs closed software development :-)
