[Fink-beginners] ?: upgrading fink on MacOS 10.1.5 fails

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade fink on MacOS 10.1.5 to get in-sync with some packages. Unfortunately the command 'fink selfupdate-cvs' fails with an error:

...
cvs [update aborted]: cannot open .new.ChangeLog: Permission denied
### su failed, exit code 1
Failed: Updating using CVS failed.
...

I have no idea where to look for. Do I miss something? Do I have set permissions wrong on my machine? All files in /sw do have root/admin permissions, which I assume is correct?
Could someone give me a hint? Thanks.

Notes: (1) fink --version: Package manager version: 0.9.12; Distribution version: 0.4.0.cvs
(2) same problem when trying to upgrade via fink commander.

I will now run the cvs command to retrieve the latest package descriptions.
The 'su' command will be used to run the cvs command as the user 'pepo'.
After that, the core packages will be updated right away; you should then
update the other packages using commands like 'fink update-all'.
