First of all:  did you do a 'rehash' at the command line?  Opening a new
Terminal would also do the trick.

Secondly:  Have you set up your fink installation so that your shell is
aware of the /sw/ tree?  Namely, you need to put something like

test -r /sw/bin/init.csh  && source /sw/bin/init.csh

in your .cshrc.

Note also that the locate database gets updated only every night or so;
surely you won't find a trace of pine just after you installed it.
