Howdy,
hi

While trying to install windowmaker I encountered a dependency problem with libpng-shlibs and libpng. They both say they require zlib. I have heard that zlib is part of 10.2 (which I am running). So what is the problem and (more importantly) the solution?

were you trying to use apt-get by any chance? they cannot be used atm with 10.2, we are in the process of creating the bin dist still.
And in case you are building from source, you should check your Jaguar upgrade. The only libpng that has a dependency on zlib lives in 10.1/stable. The ones in 10.2/stable and 10.2/unstable don't have this dependency (although they all have the same version number which is not good since a libpng built under 10.1 will not be rebuilt and will conserve its dependency on the zlib package).

I just tried "fink remove zlib", and there were libtiff-shlibs, libpng-shlibs, and imagemagick-shlibs protesting and claiming dependencies on zlib, although their 10.2 versions don't have this dependency. It seems I haven't rebuilt these under 10.2 yet.
