I'm considering installing KDE (through kdebase3) and saw that several of
the dependencies were audio related packages (esound, audiofile, mpg123,
lame for example). I'm not interested in the any of the audio tools and
would not mind not having them. I know that I can just edit the .info
files to the local tree and remove the dependencies from kdebase3.info.
But since I'm don't know what KDE uses the audio files for besides the
menu beeps (for example), I don't know how deadly removing those
dependencies will be. Does KDE require sound packages, or are they just
useful to have around?
