I have upgraded to OS X 10.2.2, and the installation of ARB worked fine.
However, when I wanted to create a PT-server, a problem emerged. The
program could write the arb database to my UFS_ARB disk image, but this
was followed by an unknown host message in the terminal window, and
after 10 repeats the PT-server closed down saying it was unable to open
the communication socket.

After some frustration the following seems to have solved my problem:
In /etc/hostconfig I have changed HOSTNAME=-automatic- to
HOSTNAME=localhost.

Now I have a localhost prompt in the terminal window instead of a prompt
with the name given to my computer. If there is a better way to fix my
problem I would of course be interested hearing about it.
