[Fink-beginners] Do I have to upgrade?

I just got Fink installed on OS X 12.2 using the bootstrap method before Fink 0.5.0a was released. I'm pretty happy with it, why would I want to upgrade? What advantages do I get? Can't I just keep using Fink this way? It's not going to stop working is it?
