Hello all, A while ago I tried Fink on my iBook 500 mHz. This runs fine but screen updating was very slow. So I got a new system hoping to solve this problem. However even on a dual 867 mHz G4 system scrolling and updating is still unacceptably slow.
Programs launch very quickly, rendering of pictures is fast but redrawing anything is S L O W. Why? I've installed Fink by compiling everything from source to be sure that all code makes use of the dual CPU.
