Hello all,

A while ago I tried Fink on my iBook 500 mHz. This runs fine but screen
updating was very slow. So I got a new system hoping to solve this
problem. However even on a dual 867 mHz G4 system scrolling and updating
is still unacceptably slow.

Programs launch very quickly, rendering of pictures is fast but redrawing
anything is S L O W. Why?

I've installed Fink by compiling everything from source to be sure that
all code makes use of the dual CPU. I've tried Enlightenment, IceWM and
WindowMaker for windowmanagers but the problem remains.
