I tried to tackle this problem a few weeks ago and gave up. Now that
I've installed the newest version of Fink, I thought I could fix it,
but to no avail. It appears that many packages I want to install have a
dependency on xfree86-rootless or rootless-threaded. My problem is that
I can't seem to either delete or replace the xfree86-base-threaded
which is currently on my system. When I try to install
xfree86-rootless, I consistently get errors which say that the package
can't be batch installed. When I try to delete it, I am not allowed to
because of dependencies.
Now, most of may apps (KD3 mostly) do work, but I'd like to keep
everything up to date. Is this just a case of "If it ain't broke don't
fix it," or is there a way around this dilemma?
