Howdy Folks!

I'm having a wee pit of trouble with Fink. In short, it mostly appears that during compile time, the system is using /usr/bin instead of /sw/bin. I've checked my path and it is ok.......
I'm having the biggest problem with libtool giving me errors on almost every package I install. I've gone thru all the help material on the site and verified that I did the install process correctly.
I've deleted and reinstalled fink (latest). I followed the XDarwin guide too.

I think I may have to reformat though. Here's what happened initially:

1) installed fink - nothing installed worked (sounded like a path issue but the path is correct)
2) so I found & installed GNU-Darwin
3) installed XoX / Xfree86 .... X mostly works but like the pictures. Only usable in rootless mode
4) deleted and reinstalled fink. - get even more errors (couldn't install windowmaker from either fink nor Gnu-Darwin)
5) installed OroborOSX ... rootless works now
6) installed gimp via fink ... gimp works
..... but nothing else will work. I get errors on kde & gnome bundles, libtool, tclktk, libpng, ...and everything else I've tried.
7) turned on unstable packages.... this resolved some dependancy issues but I'm still stuck with libtool errors

I'm beginning to think I need to reformat my hard-disk and start over.

I just upgrade from OS 10.2.2 to 10.2.3 yesterday and there was no change.
I've tried command line, I've tried raw apt-get commands, I've used fink commander.... nada.

Here are some examples. Note that the libraries are different depending on the tool. Many of them are X11 libraries though which leads me to believe that maybe I should install the fink equivalent.

ld: warning prebinding disabled because dependent library: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib is not prebound

The end result I'm going for is to be able to run KBabel rootless.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? If you think I should uninstall certain items, can you you point me to directions as to how to do so? I've found that not all of the installers have the drop-down "uninstall" selection.

Thanks,

Joey
