This time I used chmod to change permissions, but I saw files were already

Xdarwin works when I log as root, but when I type fink in xterm I have
"command not found".
This happens when the path is not know to your shell. check if "echo $PATH" contains /sw/bin. If not, add "source /sw/bin/init.sh" to ~/.bashrc if you're using bash, or "source /sw/bin/init.csh" to ~/.cshrc if you're using (t)csh.

On the contrary, when I log as ktistes (=me) and open terminal, fink works
with sudo pw, but startx give this:
Failed to connect to the HID System as the window server!

Fatal server error:
Quit the Mac OS X window server or use the -quartz option.

 OsVendorFatalError
 AbortDDX
Quitting XDarwin...
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 61): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
Xdarwin opens and quits immediatly.
For sure, how do you start XDarwin? Click on XDarwin icon in Finder?
Or type "startx -- -quartz" (or "startx -- -fullscreen") in Terminal?

You really seem to have a permission problem.

So Xfree and fink don't meet each other...
