Hi,

I really need some help, and would appreciate any advice people can give me. I have installed gtk+2 now, for a project I'm working on, but I need to be able to compile it manually by hand.

First I uninstalled gtk+2. Then I unpacked the source for gtk+2 which fink had got, but got an error when I ran

./configure

The end of the output from configure is:

checking for TIFFReadScanline in -ltiff... no
checking for TIFFWriteScanline in -ltiff... no
checking for TIFFFlushData in -ltiff34... no
configure: WARNING: *** TIFF plug-in will not be built (TIFF library not found) ***
configure: error:
*** Checks for TIFF loader failed. You can build without it by passing
*** --without-libtiff to configure but some programs using GTK+ may
*** not work properly

Does anyone know what the problem is? I checked and libtiff is definitely installed. Is the source code in the /sw/src directory the patched source code as I had assumed or not? If its not, what do I need to do in order to apply the fink patch to it?

Thanks for your help!!!

Robert
