Hello,
I encountered the circular dependencies problem (seems it's well-knowned
in the archives) when trying to install
the kdebase3 package.
An extract from the shell:
------------------
The following package will be installed or updated:
kdebase3
The following 15 additional packages will be installed:
anacron daemonic findutils kdelibs3 kdelibs3-dev libxml2 libxml2-bin
libxml2-shlibs libxslt libxslt-shlibs man python tcltk tcltk-dev
tcltk-shlibs
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
Failed: Problem resolving dependencies. Check for circular dependencies.
------------------
I've run "fink self-update" and "fink update-all", since it seemed to be
the tip given to others experiencing
this circ. depend. prob. but it didn't make any difference. I don't know
if it has anything to do with it, but
earlier fink had trouble downloading the "arts-1.0.2.tar.bz2"-file, so I
downloaded "arts-1.0.2.tar.bz2" manually from
Chimera and placed in the /sw/src directory and ran "fink install
kdebase3" again.
Now I wonder what do I do in this specific situation to get kde up and
running, and why do circular dependencies occur and
where is the lists of dependencies for different software packages? Are
the depencies-lists somewhere in /sw
or are they on the Internet?
Thanks in advance
//Jonatan
