Hi,
This report is regarding 'kdebase3-ssl 3.1-1' (compiled from source) which repeatedly locks up a TiBook when logging out of the KDE desktop (in both rootless and full screen mode). Unfortunately the problem is not reproducible each and every time, but it happens several times a day. The workaround I've been using is to switch to Aqua, then exit X11 from the XDarwin menu. On a related note, the previous binary version of KDE (3.1 Beta 1) would lock up the same machine every other time while *launching* KDE (during 'initializing peripherals'). The machine is totally frozen and is not pingable from other PCs on the network. KDE3 works fine in Linux on the same TiBook.
Also, selecting the Font Installer in the KDE Control Center crashes the Control Center every time. When run from a shell, this is the error message:
[pbook:~] phil% kcmshell kcmfontinst
QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty
kcontrol: Found basegroup = Settings/
kcmshell: KCModule fontinst
Bus error
[pbook:~] phil%
BTW- KDE 3.1 RC5 is much faster than the previous version, and sound works. Nice!
If there are any troubleshooting tips I should try, please let me know.
Thanks,
Phil
