Thanks for the hint! On Tuesday 11 February 2003 20:48 Alexander Hansen wrote: > What you are missing is that pdflib can't be distributed as a binary > because of its licensing. You have to install it from source.
After having read that, it is easy to find the relevant documentation; I expect no problems. It might be a good idea to add this hint to the short pdflib / pdflib-shlibs documentation on the web. [To save other beginners this trap, really; the web documentation was where I first looked, of course, to see whether there was anything unusual with pdflib-shlibs. My suspicion was that it might be unstable, for whatever reason. The fairly general section in the overall fink documentation is exactly what I need to go on, but without the pointer to this particular problem, I would have spent a long time groping around in the dark.] [Which goes to show the immense value of this list, thanks again!!!, Alexander!] > On Tue, 11 Feb 2003, Volker Blum wrote: > > Dear all, > > > > when trying to install grace using fink 5.1 (dselect, in fact), I receive > > the complaint that pdflib-shlibs is required but can't be found anywhere. > > > > According to the Fink package list on the web, this package is a > > split-off from pdflibs. > > > > A find /sw -name ... does turn up the pdflib-package files as required. > > > > However, there is no pdflib-shlibs package or information anywhere; > > dselect is right to complain. > > > > What am I missing? > > > > Thanks > > > > Volker Blum > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > > This SF.NET email is sponsored by: > > SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld Something 2 See! > > http://www.vasoftware.com > > _______________________________________________ > > Fink-beginners mailing list > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-beginners ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! http://www.vasoftware.com _______________________________________________ Fink-beginners mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-beginners
