[Fink-beginners] selfupdate-cvs broken

I can no longer successfully run fink selfupdate-cvs. When I do, I get the following error messages (clipped for brevity's sake):

Additionally, running fink list system-xfree86 informs me that a newer vision is available. However, when I execute fink update system-xfree86, I get the following error message:

Any idea what happened to my install? FWIW, these errors began to occur when I deleted /etc/X11 & /usr/X11R6 and did a fresh install of Apple's X11 0.2.
