:) I just found the answer, by looking at the file I had used to install fink some weeks ago... The package I used is:

fink-0.3.0-installer.dmg

While the latest fink installer is:

Fink-0.5.1-Installer.dmg

I don't remember where I got this file, because I started to look for a was to install X free on my system just by using google. I had found a page explaining how to install xfree86 and Gimp on a Mac OS X system. There were several ways explained, and using fink was one of them. I presume there was a link to an older installer...

Well, I presume that I'll have to install fink again...
Is it necessary to delete all the /sw/ directory, with the subdirectories?

I imagine I could do just this... After all, all the files and programs installed by fink are under this directory, and if I just delete it, there won't be any problem...

I already backed up all the deb files found in /sw/var/cache/apt/archives/

Then I could install the latest version of fink after having deleted /sw/ and subdirectories, then I could copy all the .deb files into the new
/sw/var/cache/apt/archives/ directory.
Then I just have to type:
apt-get install <names_of_the_previously_installed_programs>
and only the deb files which have been updated since would be replaced.
Do you think this would be the right method?
