I have been playing my .ogg files directly from the CD's with XMMS on Linux (Yellow Dog Linux and Red Hat). I would like to be able to do so on OS X, with iTunes or with another Fink sound package (XMMS or other).
My experience with iTunes: I downloaded the iTunes (Quicktime plugin) for Ogg Vorbis support... http://illadvised.com/~jordy/ This does work, however, it appears that the iTunes library will not recognize the .ogg files unless they are downloaded to the hard drive first. I would rather not do that as I don't have a huge hard drive to put all the .ogg files permanently in the "Library." I keep several hours of music on one of several CD's of .ogg files. Questions related to Fink: Will I need the "vorbis-tools" or some other package to play .ogg files with "xmms" downloaded via Fink? What have other's experienced playing .ogg files, particularly playing directly from a CD.
