Hmmm, I found by myself the answer to my own question... I had not understood how to do this properly. When the dialog box appears after clicking "scale image", there are two different places where to type in the new dimensions. The first says: "Pixel Dimensions". The Second: "Print Size & Display Unit". I had filled in the boxes in the second place, and apparently, nothing had changed..." . You must type in the first space "Pixel Dimensions", to actually reduce the image size...

I Imagine the second space gives instructions to the printer... Right?

Is there a bug? I am trying to reduce the size of a picture. The actuel sixe, and the size in Pixel as well, and, of course, it's weight in kilobytes...

I right-click, select "picture", then "scale of picture" (In French, it says: "Image", then "echelle de l'image"... Anyway, a pop-up menu proposes me to type in the new dimensions. I replace "860" with "100" in what's about sike. Then I hit "enter", and the width is antomatically changed so that the proportion high/width remains the same. Then I click "validate" ("Valider" in French). Well... And then, NOTHING HAPPENS! The picture keeps the same size!

What shall I do? Is there something I don't know how to do, or is there a bug in Gimp?
