Some days ago, I asked questions about how to configure XDarwin for a non-us keyboard. I use a ibook with a swiss-french keyboard. People helped me, and I learned that I must first start X in rootless mode and change the preferences for the keymap by clicking "Preferences - Start - Keymaping (or something similar), then choose Suisse.keymaping (something like that). Then I had to modify a file: .cshrc and add a line:
stty -istrip
(I could also have changed /private/etc/csh.cshrc the same way to change this system wide).
Now my keyboard behaves correctly... with one exception: emacs !

The version of Emacs I installed with fink (emacs21) does not display the characters with accents. Example: "" becomes "i" when I try to type "" in emacs...

I had this problem with everything until I modified the file .cshrc , as explained above...

I presume emacs has it's equivalent to the file .cshrc . To change emacs behavior, I should change something in .emacs ... Does anyone here know how to do this?
