I also have had problems launching gnumeric and gnucash. For a while, i could only launch them after a restart of the entire system. I am trying to understand your message more completely. You suggest making a symbolic link from fontmap2 to gnome-print.fontmap, yes? I checked my system and I do not have fontmap2 at all. I assume that his may be important to run gnumeric, but then why can I run it sometimes? It's a puzzle.

Subject: [Fink-beginners] gnumeric and fontmap2

I wanted just to indicate (if that can help) that not being able to
launch gnumeric I
created a link named "fontmap2" (/sw/share/fonts/fontmap2) pointing
towards the file "gnome-print.fontmap"
(/sw/etc/gnome/fonts/gnome-print.fontmap).
Gnome2 which did not recognize the link named "gnome-print.fontmap"
starts now without problem.
