I updated to the latest version of X11, perl, v5.8.0, apache2, and fink. Now I can't get fink or fink commander to display a list of programs to install. I think it is due to the following error I get from the new version of perl.

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LC_ALL = (unset),
        LANG = "en_US"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

This shouldn't be too hard to fix if I knew how to set the locale settings. But I don't have a clue. I have tried the monkey strategy (a thousand monkeys typing for a thousand years could set the locale) but I seem to need more monkeys or more years. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA
Russ
