I'll put this back on the list because it has come up a few times.

If you don't want SSL support, then just try installing gnome-vfs2-dev
manually.

If you do want SSL support, then it's more complicated:  you have to
uninstall gnome-vfs2 and gnome-vfs2-shlibs, in that order, and then
install the ssl versions.  There may be a dependency complaint in this
case.
