A related question: where to find out what on fink is compatible with 10.1.5
Does FinkCmdr show this/take this into account or has one to look at ach individual program
<or are all programs compatible>. Or is there a web site describing his?

Looking at the individual program will not help. The versions for 10.1.x just have different version numbers (or not), but are not marked individually. What makes them stand out is the place in the file system (on your hard disk and on the servers) where the package descriptions are found. Same principle for the compiled binaries.

On the cvsweb page http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/fink/
for example, you have all the 10.2.x compatible packages in the "dists" subdirectory and all the 10.1.x compatible packages in the "packages" subdirectory.

If you never went through the Jaguar upgrade procedure and still have the 0.4.1 Fink distribution, then *all* your packages are compatible with 10.1.5 and FinkCommander will not even see anything else. Even selfupdate-cvs will only import the updates for 10.1.5.
