If you don't have a non-fink tetex installed, then system-tetex will never
install.

Were you prompted at some point to install either system-tetex or some
other package?  If so, then try the installation again, but select the
other package rather than system-tetex.

(Since kpat is part of KDE, you wind up installing a lot of KDE stuff,
which requires TeTeX.)
