"startx -- -quartz" kicked me right into XDarwin.

Here's what I installed:

That message is because you need to specify whether you want a
fullscreen or
rootless server.  Try using "startx -- -quartz":  this will give you a
window where you can choose.

I've used Fink Commander to install the xfree86 packages, but when I try
