I'm still wondering if anyone has cracked the issue of the Fink distribution version number not being updated after upgrading from 0.5.1 to 0.5.2 or 0.5.3. In my /sw/fink subdir, I have a file named VERSION that contains the single snippet of text "0.5.1" and nothing more. There's also a file named stamp-rel-0.5.1 that's 0 bytes in size. Could these somehow be the culprit(s)? There has to be a reason for this behavior. I have 0.5.3 and package manager 0.13.2.
