Try renaming them, and do another selfupdate. Let us know how it works (my own machines are installs from 0,5,2 and 0.5.3, so I never saw any odd behavior).

Hi.
I'm still wondering if anyone has cracked the issue of the Fink distribution version number not being updated after upgrading from 0.5.1 to 0.5.2 or 0.5.3. In my /sw/fink subdir, I have a file named VERSION that contains the single snippet of text "0.5.1" and nothing more. There's also a file named stamp-rel-0.5.1 that's 0 bytes in size. Could these somehow be the culprit(s)? There has to be a reason for this behavior. I have 0.5.3 and package manager 0.13.2.
