Look for the latex2html mailinglist, and check the archives for March-April.
There you will find a few emails that I sent, and how I eventually fixed that same problem.
I'd recommend that you start your quest in those archives, because other people have the same problem, but their solutions didn't work for me. At least you and I are guaranteed to have the same setup.
