Danke. Sie brauchen nicht, das AppleScript zu finden. Darkstat beginnt am Start jetzt (ich mute den Index vollziehbar bilden: chmod +x darkstat-init.sh).

Forgive my terrible German -- I've only studied it two semesters at the University, and already since the spring semester I've forgotten most of what I've learned.

Anyway, I got it to work. For some reason the /sw/sbin/darkstat-init.sh script was not marked executable. The daemonic darkstat script in /Library/StartupItems/daemonic-darkstat said " if [ -x /sw/sbin/darkstat-init.sh ]; then...(run the daemon)," and I checked and it wasn't marked executable. Chmodding +x made it work.

Thanks,
Chris

P.S. Another startup question: I'd like ntop to start at startup, too. I've tried doing "@reboot ntop -w 3000 -d in" the system crontab, but it's not working. How should I do this -- put a script of sorts in /Library/StartupItems or what? Actually, your AppleScript may be nice for this...

I used to have darkstat installed on my machine (from

installing, a text-based dialog came up and asked me if I wanted
to run darkstat at startup. I told it yes.
I rebooted my machine later and attempted to connect to the
darkstat port (666). Nothing happened. I looked through top to
see if darkstat was running, and it wasn't. I manually started up
darkstat and it worked fine, but it just won't start up on
reboot, and I can't find where to change or modify that
parameter. Any ideas?

In German yes, in English it's a bit difficult for me since the way I have things added to the Systempreferences/Startupitems (in german it is Systemeinstellungen/Startobjekte) is described in an articel of a german computermagazin. They solved the problem on how to start-up Darwinprograms and command line settings via Apple Script and I only had to modify it in order to fit my needs.

The Applescript can be downloaded and I will try to find the URL.
Let me know wether you are interested or not.

Eric
