[Fink-beginners] Gaim 0.66-1 & Sound

I just compiled Gaim 0.66-1 from source.  I have noticed two issues. 
First, sound doesn't consistently work.  Has anyone else had this 
issue.  If so, is there a fix so that gaim on OS X works as well as it 
does on my Linux box?

My terminal windows will display the following when using gaim:

(process:2829): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
        Using the fallback 'C' locale.
using device Built-in audio controller for output:
        with sample rate 44100.000000, 2 channels and 32-bit sample
My 'Sound Method' preference within gaim is set to ESD.

The second issue I noticed is that when I quit gaim the main window 
doesn't go away.  It stays on my screen and is unresponsive.  I end up 
doing a 'killall gaim' command to get rid of the window.

Computer: PowerBook G3 (500MHz)
Fink version: Package manager version: 0.13.3
Distribution version: 0.5.3.cvs
