Try rebuilding passwd ("fink rebuild passwd"): originally postgresql used
"pgsql" as the name for its user, but it now uses "postgres". It sounds
like you need to have the "postgres" user added.

Subject: [Fink-beginners] Problem Installing postgesql

I am trying to get grass 5 to install and one of the dependencies is
postgesql; however, whenever it tries to install the code for this it
returns the following error:

Setting up postgresql (7.3.3-4) ...
- making postgresql directories: chown: postgres: invalid user name
dpkg: error processing postgresql (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of postgresql73-dev:
 postgresql73-dev depends on postgresql (>= 7.3.3-4); however:
Package postgresql is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing postgresql73-dev (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 postgresql
 postgresql73-dev
### execution of dpkg failed, exit code 1
Failed: can't batch-install packages:
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/database/postgresql73-dev
_7.3.3-4_darwin-powerpc.deb
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/database/postgresql_7.3.3
-4_darwin-powerpc.deb
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/database/postgresql73-shl
ibs_7.3.3-4_darwin-powerpc.deb

Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated, I have several hours of
my life devoted to trying to install grass and would really like to see it
work.

Cheers,

Nick
