Try going up in the output just a little further to the last compiler statement that got run. Also, are you using gcc3.3 by any chance?

Subject: [Fink-beginners] Problems installing g77

Hi,

During an "update all," compilation of g77 bombs out. Below are the last so many message lines listed:

f/src.o differs
f/sta.o differs
f/stb.o differs
f/std.o differs
f/ste.o differs
f/storag.o differs
f/str.o differs
f/sts.o differs
f/stt.o differs
f/stu.o differs
f/where.o differs
make[1]: *** [gnucompare-lean] Error 1
make: *** [bootstrap-lean] Error 2
### execution of /var/tmp/tmp.2.5BjjtC failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling g77-3.4-20030827 failed

I have tried reinstalling and force removing g77 and installing from scratch, but the same make errors come up. I've searched the FAQs and archives, but haven't found a similar error.

I'd appreciate any help. Trying how to learn these problems myself, but it's slow going for creative types like me....

J
