For the gcc issue, check the Trees: line in /sw/etc/fink.conf (assuming a default setup) to be sure that 10.2-gcc3.3/unstable is one of the entries.

I just received a superb G5 bi-pro to test.
Obviously, it came with Os X 10.2.7 (I upgraded to 10.2.8) since Panther isn't available yet.
I installed Dec 2002 dev tools and August 2003 upgrade.
I checked that cc -v gave gcc 3.3.
I then installed Fink (0.5.3) from the web pages, and FinkCommander (0.51).
First FinkCommander doesn't seem to behave normally:
It keeps on telling me that self repair was done OK, rerun the command ... and that's it... couldn't update.
I then ran selfupdate (from the terminal) and was advised to switch to gcc 3.1
I did that, and so far the g77 install seems to work (not finished yet).
I use the unstable tree.
Question:
Am I doing things the right way?
I knew I had to install August 2003 dev tools upgrade for a G5, but I didn't know I had to select gcc 3.1 for Fink.
Did I missed something with FinkCommander? Should I re-install it?
I do like using it since I'm not very familiar with Fink on a terminal...
Thanks for any comment/advice.
Obviously, I understand this is a transition phase, and I'll probably come back here as soon as I'll get my new G5 with Panther... but that's another chapter of the story...
