It say's:
sudo dpkg -r --force-all system-xfree86\ system-xfree86-42 system-xfree86-43 fink selfupdate; fink index
but you needed to do:
sudo dpkg -r --force-all system-xfree86\ system-xfree86-42 system-xfree86-43; fink selfupdate; fink index
See the extra semicolon right before the first instance of the word "fink". Without the semicolon, dpkg thought it was supposed to remove fink too.
(A semicolon is basically an "end of this step" marker so that you can string together multiple commands.)
sorry, looks like you've gotta reinstall fink. And someone should fix that typo on the website too. :)
