I've had the same problems with circular dependencies as Allen. I'm really not a developer - so whilst this might be rubbish, I hope it points someone with more of a brain in the right direction:
A little more information on the circular dependencies problem: I installed Fink on two identical powerbooks (identical 10.2.8 software) - one last Tuesday and one on Friday. The problems only appeared on the Friday install. I presume this is to do with Fink now (between Tuesday and Friday) taking advantage of the gcc3.3 compiler. Previously I could set Fink to use gcc3, but it now asks me to use gcc_select to change to 3.3. According to the posting on the front page of Fink 24/10/03 there was an update for Fink to use 3.3, but no binaries are available. At a guess, the packages are installed from source and one of the packages mentioned in Allen's email has a circular dependency (depends on one of the other packages, which in turn depends back on it). I'd also guess the problem will go away once binaries are available, but hopefully someone who knows what they're talking about will be able to look into the circular dependencies problem :) Robin -------------------------------------------- http://www.shef.ac.uk/robin Never feed an antelope turnips.
