I just upgraded to Panther and deleted my old fink install, then bootstrapped from fink0.6.0 and a couple of WMs like enlightenment, windowmaker and blackbox-rootless.
When I go to terminal to startx I get
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: syntax error near unexpected token `'''
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: ` XCOMM '' required to prevent cpp from treating "/*" as a C comment.'
My .xinitrc is:
source /sw/bin/init.sh
xset b off
xclock -geometry -0+0 & xterm & xterm &
exec windowmaker
Do I need to exclude the 10.2 stuff from fink somehow, if so I'm not sure how.
Well, no, a selfupdate will fix this issue, but apparently even so, the current xfree86 package doesn't actually run on panther.
For now you're best off to uninstall xfree86 and then install apple's x11 and sdk off your panther CDs until we have a fix.

If we didn't, we would have made something else be the default. So keep your cotton-pickin' hands off our defaults. Don't touch. Consider them mandatory. "Mandatory defaults" has a nice ring to it.
