I cannot speak for the whole community but for myself and on my
good old iMac G3 400 with Mac OS X 10.2.8 and fink 0.6.2 since
yesterday and before that 0.6.1 there were and are up to now no
problems.

What you should do is to install the Apple Developer Tools
August2003 Update which is freely avaible via developer.apple.com,
you only need to register, for free.

Further on you should as adviced in the fink faq
<http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-packages.php#apple-x11-wants-xfree86>
and remove your system xfree if you have already one installed or a
X11 from either Apple or Xfree86.

Please also read the faq and the mailinglist archives since
mid-september most of the problems with gcc3.3 and 10.2.8 or 10.3
are already discussed and most of them if not 90% are solved.
