You shouldn't have to, I think...
Can I just reinstall by downloading X11 from the software site apple.com? If from the third cd I assume I do a custom install and select just X11 [disks not handy, in attic].
Yea, or you navigate down into the packages directory on the CD I think, and just click on the X11User package directly (I'm not positive, I don't have mine handy to double-check either :)
