I installed Panther, removed xfree86, installed Apple X11 and tried to update fink with "fink selfupdate", which, after some fiddling, sort-of worked.

Right now it consistently crashes as follows...

I'm using cvs because rsynch won't go through our firewall.

Interestingly, after the crash I can do a "fink update-all" and update all the pacakges that cvs got to before it died. So I'm pretty up to date. But it would be good to get the last little bit fixed....
