You have to tell it to choose from the original URL until it makes the distfiles mirror(s). Depending on how your fink is configured, it might give up before getting a mirror that works, since it defaults to trying to cycle through all of the distfiles mirrors first.
On my computer you had to select the bottom option, Retry using next mirror set "sourceforge".
