Hi there!
is anything known about the progress of the Scilab-port for OS 10.3?
...the lack of Scilab for Panther is going to make me install 10.2.8 again... :(
Or is it possible to do it without Fink?

You can copy the info and patch files from the 10.2-gcc3.3/unstable tree to your local tree and try to compile it. If you don't have the 10.2-gcc3.3 tree, you can get these two files by rsync: Type (one line)

rsync -auzv rsync://opendarwin.org/finkinfo/10.2-gcc3.3/unstable/main/finkinfo/ sci/scilab-2.7-2.\* /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo/

You need to modify the Source line: Replace Scilab by Scilab_save:

Source: ftp://ftp.inria.fr/INRIA/Projects/Meta2/Scilab_save/distributions/%n- %v.src.tar.gz

Then fink install scilab and wait and see...

hmm... compiled it with gcc 3.3 under 10.3.1 and Apples X11.

...scilab only runs as root, quitting with
"write start: can't write file
apparent state: unit 1 named /Volumes/Storage/Users/user/scilab.hist
last format: (a)
lately writing sequential formatted external IO
/sw/bin/scilab: line 205: 2312 Abort trap $SCI/bin/scilex $*
"
...sudo scilab convinces it to run, but it crashes as soon as you call something like plot2d ...

%)

Any suggestions?
