But when I go to install things it keeps asking me to make a dependancy choice for other xfree distributions:
Confused I am. Maybe a reboot is what is needed..

Where does the FAQ say that you should install system-xfree86?
Forgive me for reading more than the FAQ... it says you should install it at http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/package.php/system-xfree86 and I saw nothing saying this was different for Panther.
Funny, this is not what I read on this page.
It says, and I quote exactly,Install this package if you have XFree86 4.2.x (or equivalent) installed manually.So, if you do not have to install system-xfree86, perhaps that documentation should be changed?
