Dear all,
Oh dear :-)
I don't know if I'm using fink properly.
I'm having problems re-building the CURLHandle Framework under Jaguar.
I don't know anything about CURLHandle, but having a quick look at their sources showed the origin of your problem, I think. If I am wrong, the following remarks should at least get you going in the right direction.
I get the following error:
can't open: hostip.o (No such file or directory, errno = 2) no object files loaded
This is a path problem. The file hostip.o does not come with curl directly, neither with OSX's curl nor with Fink's. It is archived in libcurl.a. They extract it from the archive, change something about it and put it back.
In OSX 10.2 and 10.3, you have /usr/lib/libcurl.a and if you install curl with Fink, you have /sw/lib/libcurl.a (from curl-dev or curl-ssl-dev). It seems that they have hardcoded the path /usr/local/lib/libcurl.a in their pbxproj script and you don't have /usr/local/lib/libcurl.a. Actually, if I'm right, you should have had a first error message
ar: /usr/local/lib/libcurl.a: no such file or directory.
You have the choice:
Either change the pbxproj file so that it points to /usr/lib/libcurl.a or to /sw/lib/libcurl.a
Or copy one of these two libraries to /usr/local/lib
Or make a symlink:
ln -s /usr/lib/libcurl.a /usr/local/lib/
(or the same with /sw/lib/libcurl.a if you think Fink's libcurl is better than OSX's)
Updating curl to a newer version has nothing to do with this problem.
I red on a CURLHandle mailing list archive that to solve that problem I need to install the latest version of curl. I was connected to fink web site from the download section for MacOSX in _http://curl.haxx.se_.[]
I downloaded fink, I red the documentation, I installed fink (it created a new directory /sw) and then I installed curl from terminal using fink;
I guess I did everything well: as a matter of fact in Terminal now I get the following:
[Computer-di-Marco-Michieli:~] marcomichieli% fink list "curl*" Information about 1284 packages read in 16 seconds. curl 7.10.3-1 Tool for transferring files with URL syntax
Where did you find this old version? Is this the Fink-0.5.2 binary distribution from last June or what?
