I gather from your letter to Christopher that rsync provides more reliable access to the updated package descriptions than CVS. Are there any other advantages to making the switch to rsync?


Seems the sourceforge anon cvs server is down right now. You can use
selfupdate-rsync instead. Activate unstable before you do it (by editing
/sw/etc/fink.conf), because selfupdate-rsync only downloads the trees
that are activated in fink.conf.

A warning, however: If you go back to selfupdate-cvs later, you will
then download *all* package descriptions, not just the updated ones. The
two selfupdate methods do not mix. The passage between them is done
automatically, though.
