I installed X11 outside of fink and fink does show a virtual place holder showing system-xfree86 2:4.3-1. Then, everytime I go install some other package, fink wants to remove system-xfree86 and install xfree86.
Then I get this message:

You have an existing X11 installation in /usr/X11R6 and/or /etc/X11.
This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell Fink to
install xfree86 again. (The package won't be recompiled.) If you want
to keep your X11 installation, install system-xfree86 resp. system-xtools
instead to make this known to Fink's package system.

I want to keep my X11 install, but don't understand what to do about it. system-xtools is not a package, is it a developer tool? What do I have to make known to to fink and how?

Dan
