The texi2dvi was renamed because, in an attempt to fix the problem, I
installed a more recent texi2dvi (and texinfo) into /usr/local/bin. The old
/usr/bin versions prevailed after installation until I renamed them. The
newer version made no difference in the compile. The SourceForge make file
maintainer (not fink) said that, since it only failed on Macs, he saw no
need to change the make file. The problem, in his opinion, was with the
Apple UNIX configuration, not with SourceForge.

Thanks, I'll do that. From my previous attempts, I think that I know how to
fix the problem by eliminating a document target, but I would rather have
the maintainer tell me what to do.
