I am new to the list. New to Apple and Fink also. I recently purchased an Apple Power Mac Dual G5 2GHz with Panther 10.3.3 installed. I installed Fink and tried to install a test program Lilypond. Everything went well until the end when I got the following message:
"You have an existing X11 installation in /usr/X11R6 and /etc/X11. This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell Fink to install xfree86-base again. (The package won't be recompiled.) If you want to keep your X11 installation, install system-xfree resp. system-xtools instead to make this know to Fink's package system."
Initially I want to use the pre-installed version of X11 so I elected to install system-xfree and system-xtools. Fink however indicated that the package system-xfree is unavailable.
How do I proceed from this point. Any comments or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, John Dey
